OH Boy! I just got my new (to me) side pull today.
Thank you very much Lousia for sending this to me, and to Crystal for sending it to her. I can't wait to go home and try it out.
I'll have to run down and get a chin strap for it on my lunch. There is an upside and a down side to working half a mile from the tack store. The upside is that it is handy, the down side is that they take all my money.
I think I will try it in the arena or pasture first, before I just head off down the road.
It seems to have gotten a little twisted on one side (I assume from shipping) so I will have to figure out how to untwist it so that it is functioning properly.
Have I mentioned how much I love new tack! I'm sure that I am the only one too! HA!!!!
I've always wanted a side pull too. Years ago the hubs and I rode our mares in nothing but mechanical hackamores. They were both good girls, and even though a mech. hack can be quite severe, we rode them on very loose reins always, and they could eat grass when we stopped for breaks. But side pulls have direct contact with no leverage, and that sounds good to me. Especially for trail rides, I love the idea of no metal in their mouths. Can't wait to see how you (and Trax?) like it.
ReplyDeleteyes I'm pretty excited too. I'm sure he is going to love it.
DeleteThank you for your nice comment on my blog. I was feeling so overwhelmed and frustrated yesterday, I just needed to vent (and whine) a little bit. It's nice to hear I'm not the only one. :) Don't you wish more of our time was our own? I never, ever feel like there's enough hours or energy in a day. Guess I'm getting old.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't enough hours in the day, but that is God's way of making sure we don't run ourselves into the ground. At least that is what I keep telling myself. And I don't know about you...but I am getting old, really old- really fast. It's happening right before my eyes. Top it off and that "change" has finally started for me and it is not at all what I was lead to believe!!! LOL
DeleteGlad you got it - sad to hear it's a bit damaged though! It looks fine in the photo, so hopefully it un-twists. By the way, I just left the vet wrap on the nose piece because that's what i'd been using with Jingle to not rub up his nose, but feel free to discard that if you wish!
ReplyDeleteOh it is fine, once I had time to look at it, it was easy to see what the problem was. Somehow the rings got reversed on one side, so the ring for the rein was on the inside. We just untied the knot on the nose piece, put the rings where they needed to be and then retied it. I did not get to try it out last night like planned, due to rain and feeling crappy, but I will this weekend I think.
DeleteThank you so much!
