What we did for Easter

I know I'm a little late for Easter Day posts, but I just got this pic sent to me, and I love it.
I do not enjoy riding Killian, I prefer my "go faster" paint.  But let me show you why Killian gets to stay.

Look at that tail flying!

The girl has the bug...the horsey bug.  You know which bug I'm talking about. We all were bit by that same bug at a young age.  She's got it baaaaad!  Her mom says she talks about Killian all the time. When she isn't talking about him, she is talking about my other horses.   Killian loves it when she comes to ride, because it means he has to "work" without actually doing anything.   So she came over for a little while to ride on Sunday.

My only regret is that we did not get a picture of her leading him (to cool him down- ha!)  He cranes his neck down to watch her every move.  It is amazing.  I will get that shot next time.

Killian- you are worth your weight in gold.

I think I will suggest that her parents pay for some professional lessons for her, and offer the use of the Mighty Killian.  She needs someone who can really teach her what to do, and she needs a kids saddle so she can really get the feel for it.

  1. Oh what a lucky little girl. I agree he is totally worth his weight in gold, not too many nice quiet ones like that.

  3. Wow, I had a Killian when I was a little kid. Taffy was my first horse and she was older than dirt when we got her, but she was perfect for little kids that didn't have a clue what they were doing, but didn't care as long as they got to sit on a horse. She even ran with me once...which freaked my Dad out! I remember laughing and holding on for dear life...and my Dad running after us! Oh my....I wish my Dad was here so we could laugh about that one. You brought back a great memory...

    Big hugs to Killian! :-)

    1. That is a great story! Killian doesn't run for anyone, except me sometimes and only if I really peddle him. That is why I don't enjoy riding him, because even if I can get more than a trot out of him, he is so busy trying to slow down the canter is awfully rough.
