First Pictures of the New Year.

Well let me start with wishing everyone a wonderful and prosperous New Year!  Most of all I wish you all plenty of riding time this year!

I took a few pictures today, with Simon's help as we cleaned pens and fed this morning.

BRRRRRRRR!

This is Me, doing what I do best!

Proof that Simon is capable of helping.

Last night Simon was threatened with his horse going up for sale if I didn't start getting a little bit of help.  Of course he complained all morning, but he did work very hard while complaining...so I guess what ever motivates him is ok with me.  It was 16 degrees out this morning.  I am finding that frozen horse poop can really be a pain.

My plan is to go ride for a little bit today.  I will take Trax and Killian this time.  I am hoping to get another lesson from Jay, but he may be busy.  If so I will just have to try to figure out what to do next on my own.

  1. Ah, yes, frozen manure. I had to just wait for spring thaw to deal with that as well as the frozen dog poop. One day my neighbor had visitors over in the spring and one of them said, "Look, she does actually clean up poop every once in while!"

That's how I found out that she had been complaining about it. I wanted to hand her the pooper scooper and say, "You're more than welcome to try this when the temperatures never get above freezing and see how it works out for you."

I've broken a few manure forks by trying to pry up those rocks. At least you don't have to worry about thrush as long as they stay frozen.

    1. Oh that is funny, I am sure I would have done just that!
I try to do them every day, but with sub zero temps it does make it hard....pun intended!

  2. Everytime I read about cleaning poop makes me glad it is something I rarely have to do.
